Cabin June 5-11, 2014

We got to go to my grandma's cabin for a week.  It was so nice to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.  I'm so grateful to my grandma and grandpa for building this cabin, and for my uncle and cousins for remodeling and finishing it.  It is such a joy and so peaceful!  We enjoyed watching movies, and the kids played games.  The boys played war, we went to the bridge for stick races, and Joshy skipped his first rock.  We went hiking.  It was a little muddy, but that made it adventurous.  We did a couple crafts, and has a great time!

Let There Be Light!

One thing that bugged me about our new house is that there wasn't a light in the master bedroom.  Who doesn't put a light in the master bedroom?!  We have been using lamps since we moved in, but Al promised me that he would put in lights in the ceiling.  I'm one that likes to have lots of light.  Well we decided to put insulation in our attic, so this got things moving with the lights.  Al didn't want to try to put in the light once all the insulation was in.  Smart Man!

Nice thing is that he was able to find a light on clearance at Lowes.  It's a light, fan so it will be nice to have in the summer too.  So Tuesday morning he got started on his day long project.
See Look.  No light.
Then he got up in the attic and drilled a hole in our ceiling.  Ran some wire through, and then wired it to the power source.
He cut a bigger hole in the ceiling for the fan.
Wired in the lights and mounted the fixture.

Wired it in to the switch, And....
Wa La!  We had light.  For a few seconds anyway.  Opps.  He tripped the power.  So now it was time to figure out what went wrong.
Back up to the attic now.  Following wires to see what went
where.
Up and down, up and down.  Trying to figure out what went wrong.  Gideon loved following his daddy.
But I married a smart man!  He figured it out!  And now we have light and a fan in our room.  He said if he would have taken the time to follow the wires the first time instead of just trying to hurry and get it done, it would have been done in a much shorter time.  Oh well, I'm just so grateful for the light!  It makes such a difference in our room, and I'm so grateful for a Handy Man who has the know how to do it!

Gideon Turns 2

Gideon is 2

On his actual birthday we gave him a present and cupcakes and sang Happy Birthday

He got a Captin America shield

He loved the Superman bag as much as the present inside.

Gideon loves any Super Hero.  So this was the theme of his birthday party.  Poor thing woke up with a temperature on the day of his party.  We went ahead and had it anyway.  He wasn't feeling well so it worked out that only Grandparents and Elisa could come.
He had Spiderman, Superman, Batman, and The Advengers decorations.  It was a "super" party.  He lit all up when he saw his decorations.

Poor thing, just was not feeling well.

Mercedes and Mica playing Lightning ball

Gideon felt well enough to play one ball game.  He loves the balls.

He go so excited he got a ball in the hole.  Way to go Gideon.

He perked up again when it was time to open presents.  Grandma Ann brought him in this bike and he got all excited for the Spiderman Bike!

Even sick, there was so much joy coming from this little guy as he opened all his presents.

I forgot to take pictures of his cake.  He had a batman cake.  We took the candles out to have him blow on them so he wouldn't blow on the cake and get everyone else sick.  I think he enjoyed the day as much as he could being sick.  He is such a cutie and we are so blessed to have Gideon as part of our family.

Highlights of December

Temple Square

We have a family challenge going on right now to read the scriptures so many minutes every day individually.  After everyone reaches a certain amount of hours we do an activity together as a reward.  Our last activity was to go to Temple Square to look at the lights.  It was a wonderful time and the weather was great when we went, and there was no crowds.

The kids favorite part was in the Church History Museum.  They have redone their kids center there.  It is hands on, interactive, and imaginative.  The kids had a lot of fun there.

We had fun learning Mexican dancing while there.

Grandma Ann's Grandkids Party

Grandma Ann had her annual Grandkids Christmas party.  The kids look forward to this every year.  Grandma really out dose herself with all the crafts, food, games, and activities.  This year was especially great because they got to sleep over.  My mom really plans, and prepares.  It is a lot of work, and I am so grateful she dose it.  The kids love it!
